Richard Gaywood
(active 1644-1668), ArtistArtist associated with 102 portraits
Printmaker Richard Gaywood trained under Wenzel Hollar and later collaborated with Francis Barlow for over fifteen years. He was the most prolific etcher working for the London print trade in the years between the beginning of the civil wars and the Restoration, but he is remembered for the quantity rather than the quality of his work. Although Gaywood published a few plates himself, much of what he produced was made for the publisher Peter Stent.
