Michael Vandergucht

(1660-1725), Engraver

Artist associated with 255 portraits
Michael van der Gucht was a pupil of Philip Bouttats and was admitted to the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1673. By 1688, he had moved to England. Van der Gucht was employed chiefly to engrave portraits, book illustrations and architectural prints. He trained his sons Gerard and Jan van der Gucht , as well as George Vertue and James Smith.
