Frederic G. Hodsoll

(1864-1952), Photographer

Artist of 68 portraits
Frederic Hodsoll was one of the earliest photographers to use flash, which gave his prints exceptional clarity of detail and was ideally suited to his favourite subjects: actors in their dressing rooms and writers in their homes. He worked for the illustrated newspaper The Sphere and the magazine The Tatler and Bystander, where many of his portraits were reproduced.
