Sefton Samuels

Sefton Samuels is one of Manchester's leading photographers, with a career spanning more than four decades. Before turning to photography he worked in mills across the North West and as a professional jazz drummer. For five years he was the main photographer in the North West for BBC Television, during which time he also set up his own Photo Library specialising in all aspects connected with the North West as well as a comprehensive range of general subjects. Over the years Sefton has photographed many nationally celebrated figures, including actors, artists, scientists and politicians. Samuels's work has been exhibited widely and is held in the permanent collections of major museums.

Latest news: all 20,000 'Northerners' books sold and this, together with his other 2 books, 'Classics in Subtle light' and 'Jazz Legends: Up Close' have now been accepted in the V & A Art Library, alongside 10 individual photos. Also, his film 'Autumn in Delamere' now accepted in the amateur section (from 1970) of the British Film Institute.
