Edward Lutterell (Luttrell)

(died 1737), Mezzotinter and pastel draughtsman

Artist associated with 65 portraits
Edward Luttrell began to study law at New Inn, London, in around 1670, but abandoned this to become a pupil of the crayon and pastel portrait painter Edmund Ashfield. He is credited with expanding the technique of crayon drawing by expanding the colours used and by inventing a method of drawing with crayons on copper plates.
