Born in Malaczka, Hungary, in 1827, Ludwig Angerer opened his first photographic studio in Vienna in the late 1850s. He produced cartes-de-visite and other portraits of many famous Austrians, for example the Imperial family, including Empress Elizabeth, and military heroes.
