c.1780-5
Oil by Reinagle in National Gallery of Ireland, as a child with his father at Woolwich (see W. Y. Carman, 'Sir William Congreve 1741-1814' (his father) in Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research, 51, 1973, pp 65-6). A portrait listed in Manners & Williams, John Zofany RA, 1920, p 188 as by Zoffany and then owned by Lieut.-Gen. Congreve VC is probably identical with this oil.
