John Sell Cotman (1782-1842), Landscape painter
Pencil, ink and watercolour self-portrait exhibited in 'English Portrait and Marine Drawings from a Private Collection', Norwich Castle Museum 1972 - a rather hazy head and shoulders inscribed: Drawn between June 26 & 27 at 12 o'clock Midnight by J. S. Cotman (reproduced in 'English Drawings and Watercolours', Colnaghi, 1965, plate 13).
Pencil profile by Cornelius Varley in Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, made with his 'graphic telescope' and inscribed: Cotman of Norwich (see Burlington Magazine, August 1945, p 203 and November 1972, p 782).
Watercolour self-portrait 'The Toy Boat', formerly in the Russell Colman collection, whole-length with his wife and daughter on Yarmouth beach (reproduced Sydney Kitson, The Life of J. S. Cotman, 1937, p 165).
Two oil portraits of Mr and Mrs Cotman said to have been painted from drawings by H. B. Love (born 1800) at the time of their marriage in 1809 but more likely during their first journey abroad in 1817 (see Eastern Daily Press, 21 October 1926).
