Regency Portraits Catalogue

Robert Home (1752-1834), Portrait painter

Miniature by Smart painted in India in 1791, belonged in 1931 to Mrs Home, widow of the sitter's grandson and was sold Christie's 28 April 1983 (354).

According to a letter from Mrs Lawrence in NPG archive there was another self-portrait, of the sitter slightly older, belonging to a cousin (Brig.-General Sir Archibald Fraser Home, d. 1953, of Cavenham Park, Bury St Edmunds), probably that offered to the NPG by Appleby Brothers in 1975.

Self-portrait, whole-length painting an Indian dock scene, sold Sotheby's 12 March 1980 (116).
