Painting called Nathaniel Dance, half length, a quill in his right hand. National Gallery of Ireland (959; illus. P. H. Highfill, K. A. Burnim & E. A. Langhans, A Biographical Dictionary of Stage Personnel in London, 1660-1800, X, p 392). Engraved E. Scriven 1815, from a drawing by John Jackson after the original by Dance in the collection of Mr Davies (possibly of Cadell & Davies who published the print in the British Gallery, 1822); the Jackson drawing is now National Gallery of Ireland (2169). The fundamental pose resembles that of NPG 10 and it is conceivably a preliminary oil sketch.
