Sir George Strong Nares (1831-1915), Vice-Admiral and Arctic explorer

The only other recorded likenesses of Nares are: a photograph by Lock and Whitfield (example in NPG), published Men of Mark, III (1878), 3; a woodcut by E. Whymper, published 1876 (example in British Museum), for the 'Leisure Hour'; and three woodcuts published ILN, LXVI (1875), 504 (group), 505, and 536 (group).
