Sir Henry Russell, 2nd Bt (1783-1852), Judge

Monument by John Bacon (younger) in St Mary's Church, Madras, to Jane Russell, his wife who died two months after their marriage; 'the figures were all portraits, being those of Mr Russell and his wife, her mother and two sisters' (Constance Russell, Swallowfield and its Owners, 1901, p 266-7).

Drawings by George Richmond done at Swallowfield in 1834, of Henry Russell Esq (5 guineas) and Mrs H. Russell (18 guineas), are listed in Richmond's Account Book (p 12) in NPG library. Two drawings of Sir Henry (5 and 15 guineas) are listed in 1843 (ibid., p 34); one of these, reproduced Constance Russell, Swallowfield and its Owners, 1901, p 262, was sold Christie's (property of a titled lady) 23 June 1972 (90) as 'Portrait of a Gentleman 1850'.
