'An admirable Likeness' by the Birmingham artist Daniel Bond, owned by the actor and dramatist Thomas Hull (1728-1808), [1] is now lost. A rather youthful looking head described as Shenstone by Alcock, in the Birmingham City Museum and Art Gallery, may be related to the portrait known only from the engraving by Clamp for the Biographical Mirror, 1795, lettered From an Original Picture in the possession of W. G. Waldron. Another untraced portrait engraved, 1821, by F. Engleheart for Effigies Poeticae, was stated to be from an original owned by William Roscoe. An engraved portrait which appeared as frontispiece to the 1764 edition of the sitter's works and which gave rise to a number of derivatives, is possibly based on NPG 263.
