A painting by T. Phillips is in the Inner Temple, listed in the artist's 'Sitters Book' (copy of original MS, NPG archives), under 1838, exhibited RA, 1838 (468), engraved and published by W. Walker, 1847 (example in NPG); this portrait and another by an unknown artist of 1803 were at one time in the collection of James Lowther; a copy by Phillips of his 1838 portrait for Magdalen Hospital is listed in his 'Sitters Book', under 1840 a painting by G. F. Watts is at Castle Howard, exhibited Winter Exhibition, Grosvenor Gallery, 1882 (133), and VE, 1892 (30); a painting by R. Rothwell was exhibited RA, 1832 (414); a drawing by G. Richmond of 1847 was exhibited VE, 1892 (342), lent by the Earl of Carlisle, listed in the artist's 'Account Book' (photostat of original MS, NPG archives), p 44, under 1847; a miniature by A. Plimer, as a boy, is reproduced G. C. Williamson, Andrew and Nathaniel Plimer (1903), facing p 44; an engraving by T. Wright, after A. Wivell, was published T. Kelly, 1821 (example in NPG); a woodcut, after a pen-and-ink sketch, was published ILN, XXIX (1856), 100; a photograph by Walker & Sons is in the NPG, and a woodcut after another was published ILN, LII (1868), 265.
