Early Victorian Portraits Catalogue

James Atkinson (1780-1852), Army surgeon and Oriental scholar

The only other known portrait of Atkinson is a miniature by Mrs Maria Bellett Browne, a pupil of George Chinnery, painted when he was a young man, which is now in the Scottish NPG, presented by Canon Atkinson, 1893.
