A painting by J. M. Barclay was exhibited RA, 1850 (311), probably the painting attributed to Barclay in the collection of the Marquess of Breadalbane, Invereil, where there is also a painting by an unknown artist; a painting by Colvin Smith of 1842 is listed in R.C.M. Colvin Smith, The Life and Works of Colvin Smith, R.S.A. (1939), p 79 (77); an oil sketch of Breadalbane, with three other peers, by Sir George Harvey is in the Scottish NPG; a bust by B. Thorvaldsen is in the Thorvaidsen Museum, Copenhagen.
