Edmund Cartwright (1743-1823), Inventor

A family conversation piece of Cartwright and his five children, ascribed to Hawes of Doncaster, exhibited 'Arts and Antiques in Nottinghamshire', Nottingham, 1937 (488) lent by Mrs Cartwright and later in her nephew Hugh Cartwright's collection (see The Ancestor, X, 1904, note on p 11).

Oil by Robert Fulton engraved by Atkinson for The Commercial and Agricultural Magazine, 1 April 1800, engraved again by J. Thomson 'from a Picture in the possession of Miss Cartwright', and again by Oldham Barlow in 1862.
