Prelate, youngest son of the 2nd Earl of Northampton; travelled in Europe 1652-54 and 1663-66; Queen’s College, Oxford 1654; MA 1661; DD 1669; Bishop of Oxford 1674-76 and London 1675-1713; a pronounced anti-catholic, he was suspended 1686-88; one of the seven signatories of the invitation to William of Orange; deprived as a non-juror 1690.
