George Cruikshank (1792-1878), Caricaturist and illustrator

Artist and caricaturist; son of the caricaturist, Isaac Cruikshank (1756?-1811?); a popular satirist and caricaturist, with an enormous output; famous for his etchings to Grimm's Popular Tales, and his illustrations to Dickens; took up oil-painting in later life and exhibited at the RA; a fervent advocate of temperance.
