A painting by H. S. Parkman was exhibited RA, 1849 (47); a painting by C. Gow was in the collection of J. Salter, 1926; there are several self-portrait drawings in the British Museum, and another is reproduced Magazine of Art (1897), p 266; there are three drawings by G. Scharf of 1875 in Sir George Scharf's Trustees' Sketch Books (NPG archives), XXI, 68; two miniatures by Mrs Turnbull and W. J. Fleming were exhibited RA, 1840 (838), and 1887 (1382); a marble bust by J. Adams-Acton was exhibited RA, 1871 (1264); a plaster medallion by G. Halss was in the collection of Mr Holliday, 1931; an engraving by D. Maclise was published Fraser's Magazine, VIII (1833), facing 190, as no.39 of Maclise's 'Gallery of Illustrious Literary Characters'; there is an engraving by C. E. Wagstaff, after F. Stone (example in NPG); there is a lithograph by C. Baugniet, and an etching by F. W. Pailthorpe, published J. F. Dexter, 1883 (examples in British Museum); a woodcut was published ILN, LXXII (1878), 153; there are several photographs in the NPG.
