A painting by Colvin Smith of 1861 is in the Church of Scotland Assembly Hall, Edinburgh, probably the picture reproduced The Panmure Papers, edited Sir G. Douglas and Sir G. Ramsay (1908), I, frontispiece; paintings by L. Dickinson and J. Phillip were exhibited RA, 1848 (803), and 1864 (237); a miniature by Sir W. J. Newton was exhibited RA, 1846 (970), and busts by A. Munro and J. Hutchison, RA, 1870 (1063), and 1872 (1540); two woodcuts were published ILN, XVI (1850), 245, and LXV (1874), 61; there is a photograph by Southwell in the NPG, and an engraving by D. J. Pound, after a photograph by Mayall, was published 1859 (example in NPG), for the 'Drawing Room Portrait Gallery'; there is a lithograph by Posselwhite, after the same photograph, except that it shows the sitter in Masonic dress (example in NPG); there is a lithograph by F. Schenck, after a drawing by W. Crawford of 1845, published Schenck, Edinburgh (example in NPG).
