Miser, of Pinner, who inherited eighty acres in Middlesex; ate one meal a day, bound his feet in straw, while his house stood unrepaired for fifty years; d. attended by Maria, Lady Tempest, who inherited his wealth but died soon after, having caught a chill while nursing him; Mr Boffin (Our Mutual Friend) affected much admiration for him.
