Jane Elizabeth, Countess of Ellenborough (1807-1881), Famous beauty; wife of 1st Earl of Ellenborough

A painting called Lady Ellenborough, but probably representing her mother-in-law, Anne, Lady Ellenborough, by Sir T. Lawrence was in the Camille Groult Sale, Galerie Charpentier, Paris, 27 April 1951 (lot 27), etched by C. Waltner, published Collection de M. John W. Wilson, 1873; see K. Garlick, Walpole Society, XXXIX (1962-4), 74; a painting by J. Stieler is in Schloss Nymphenburg, Munich, commissioned by Ludwig I of Bavaria; a miniature by H. Collen was exhibited RA, 1829 (936), possibly that engraved by T. Wright (example in NPG); a miniature by R. Cosway was in the collection of J. Lumsden Propert, 1897; there are various lithographs and engravings (examples in NPG, British Museum and Hope Collection, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford).
