FitzGerald disliked the idea of sitting for portraits which explains why few are recorded; a drawing by J. Spedding, executed when FitzGerald was an undergraduate, is in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (plate 330); a similar drawing, apparently by Spedding and probably of FitzGerald, is in the collection of J. H. Spedding; a painting called FitzGerald by T. Churchyard was exhibited Portraits in Berkshire, Reading Museum and Art Gallery, 1964 (24).
