Early Georgian Portraits Catalogue

Duncan Forbes of Culloden (1685-1747), Lord President of the Court of Session

A water-colour by John Campbell, private collection, is signed and dated 1746. The fine whole length statue by Roubiliac erected by subscription in 1752 and still in the Faculty of Advocates, Edinburgh, is modelled after their oil by Davison which was sent to London for the purpose. [1] A plaster model was listed as belonging to Colonel Warrand, [2] believed to be a descendant of the sitter.
