Thomson of Edinburgh of 1832 is in the Library of the University of Manchester, reproduced Hopkins, facing p 48; a plaster bust by D. Dunbar of 1831 was in the City Art Gallery, Manchester (at present untraced), reproduced Bookman, XXXVIII (1910), 244, and another cast is on the Mrs Gaskell Memorial Tower at Knutsford; a marble copy by Sir W. H. Thornycroft of 1895 is also in the Library of Manchester University, reproduced Hopkins, facing p 49; a posthumous bronze plaque by Cavaliere A. D'Orsi is on the Mrs Gaskell Memorial Tower, reproduced Bookman, XXXVIII (1910), 249; there is a photograph by A. McGlashan of Edinburgh (example in NPG).
