Richard Lemon Lander (1804-1834), Explored the course of the Niger

African traveller; brother of John Lander; accompanied Hugh Clapperton to Western Africa, and published a journal and records of Clapperton's last expedition, 1830; explored Niger, 1830-1, of which he published an account; died on second expedition to the Niger, after a fight with natives.
