John Nash (1752-1835), Architect

Architect to the Commissioners of Woods, Forests and Land Revenues in which capacity he laid out Regent's Park and Regent Street (1811-33); as private architect to the Prince Regent, later George IV, he designed the Brighton Pavilion (1814-21) and Buckingham Palace (1822-30).
In a letter to Soane in 1822 Nash described his own 'thick, squat, dwarf figure, with round head, snub nose and little eyes' (Bolton, Portrait of Sir John Soane, 1927, p 353).
