Dudley Long North (1748-1829), Politician; MP for St Germans, Great Grimsby, Banbury Richmond and Haddington Burghs

MP 1780-1821; son of Charles Long of Hurts Hall, Suffolk; in 1789 he took the name of North on inheriting the estates of North of Little Glemham, but in 1812 he resumed the name of Long in addition to North; a zealous adherent of Fox, he was described by Samuel Johnson as ‘a man of genteel appearance and that is all’.
