Early Georgian Portraits Catalogue

Johann Christoph Pepusch (John Christopher Pepusch) (1666 or 1667-1752), Composer and teacher

A portrait stated to represent the sitter, given to the Music School of Oxford University before 1795 [1] by Dr Philip Hayes (1735-97), professor of music, shows the sitter younger than in NPG 2063 and is datable from the wig to c.1710. The only other portrait recorded at the NPG is the miniature in the Royal collection by Benjamin Arlaud (fl. 1701-21) [2], brother of the better known Jacques Antoine Arlaud.

A portrait by an unknown artist in the Royal College of Music appears to be named on insufficient evidence.
