Robert Prescott (1725-1816), Governor of Canada

Army officer and colonial governor; served in Canada under Wolfe and in Martinique under Monckton 1761; served in America 1775-77 and in the West Indies from 1778 as lieutenant-colonel; governor of Martinique 1794, as lieutenant-general; governor of Canada and Nova Scotia 1796-1807; general 1798; came home in 1799 in poor health, spending his last years at Battle in Sussex.
