Portraitist and subject painter; son of the artist Thomas Richmond; inspired by William Blake; friend of Samuel Palmer and John Linnell; established a large and very successful practice as a portrait water-colourist and draughtsman; later painted in oil; portrayed many of his famous contemporaries.
