Primate; Emmanuel College, Cambridge, BA 1637, MA 1641, DD 1668 and Master 1662-64, when he oversaw the building of a new chapel and library; Dean of York 1663-64 and St Paul’s 1664-77, assisting Wren with the rebuilding; archdeacon of Canterbury 1668-70; Archbishop of Canterbury 1678-91; one of the Seven Bishops 1688, deprived as a non-juror 1690; bequeathed his library to Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
