Painter of topographical and marine subjects; exhibited at the Society of Artists and the Free Society, 1761-65; died at Bath.
Observing that 'the most elevated Men in Art here [London] now, are the lowest of stature', Vertue included 'Mr. Scot. sea schap painter' with Zincke, Hogarth, Scheemakers, Worsdale and others 'these Gent. are five foot, men or less'. [1]
