Josiah Spode II (1754-1827), Potter to George III; son of Josiah Spode I

Potter, the most successful china manufacturer of his time; worked with his father, Josiah I, and expanded the factory, setting up London showrooms, assisted by William Copeland, and introducing stone china and felspar porcelain; on his father’s death, he returned to Stoke, leaving Copeland with the London business; appointed potter to the King 1806; d. at his mansion at Penkhull, Staffs.
