Marble bust by Samuel Joseph in Edinburgh University, dated 1827; the plaster model was exhibited RSA 1827 (70), the marble RA 1828 (1159) and engraved by R. C. Bell for his Works, 1854, vol.I; bronze copies are in Scottish NPG (209) and RSA collection.

Undated
Oil by Pickersgill passed through the Burlington Magazine offices in 1911, whole-length seated on a basalt column holding a geological probe.

Posthumous
A monument by W. H. Playfair on Calton Hill, Edinburgh, was erected in 1831.
