Anna Grenville-Temple (née Chamber), Countess Temple (1709?-1777), Poet; wife of 2nd Earl Temple

Poetess; daughter and coheir of Thomas Chambers of Hanworth; married 1737 Richard, 2nd Earl Temple, bringing him a great fortune; she was forty ‘before she discovered in herself a turn for genteel versification’ and her Select Poems were printed at Strawberry Hill in 1764; according to Lord Shelburne, her husband ‘did not seem to find the least resource in her conversation, but was inconsolable at her death’.
