Chalk drawing by John Henry Frederick Bacon, inscr. ‘JHFB’ upper left, half-length, half-profile to right, arms crossed, wearing white shirt and red tie; untraced. Repr. as colour plate, 250 x 180mm, Studio, vol.24, Jan. 1902, facing p.281. Commissioned by the Studio, and presumably done shortly before publication. It is very similar in style and manner to Bacon’s portrait of George Frampton (for which see ‘All known portraits, By other artists, publ. 1901’).
