Chalk drawing by Lawrence at Althorp, head and shoulders facing signed and dated: T.L. PRA/October -/1828, presented by Lawrence to the 2nd Earl Spencer; exhibited 'Sir Thomas Lawrence' NPG 1979-80 (86) reproduced; chalk manner engraved by F. C. Lewis published 21 June 1830. The eyes in similar drawings by Lawrence were the subject of an article by Wollaston, 'The Eyes of Portraits as Optical Illusions' in Philosophical Transactions, 1826.
