Religious writer; she married 1) 1678 Robert Berkeley (1650-94) and 2) 1700, as his third wife, Bishop Gilbert Burnet, who already had five children by his second marriage; a devout and charitable woman, she published A Method of Devotion 1708 and sponsored schools for poor children in Worcester and Salisbury; travelled in northern Europe in 1685 and, with her step-children, in 1707; her first marriage was childless and two daughters of her second died in infancy.
