Royal governess, 2nd daughter of 1st Earl of Pomfret; when in Italy with her parents in 1741 Walpole considered her ‘the cleverest girl in the world; speaks the purest Tuscan, like any Florentine’; married 1746, as his second wife, William Finch (1691-1766), 2nd son of 7th Earl of Winchilsea; governess to the Royal children 1762-92.
