Low-necked bodice similar to the bodice à la Sevigné, but its broad bands of pleated folds across the top sloped down more to meet at the centre, with a central bone to the waist. It was named after a character from 'The Sultan', an 18th century farce revived in 1806. Worn from late 1828.
