A draped bodice of the 1820s, the front pleated or decorated like a fan converging from the shoulders to a blunt point at the waist, from the French for a sheaf of corn. The term was still sometimes used in the '30s and early '40s to describe a V-shaped arrangement of folds on the longer bodice.
