850 lithographs of portraits and figure studies by the prolific Victorian lithographer Richard James Lane, mostly published between 1825 and 1850. The collection contains portraits of royal sitters, prominent society figures and theatrical subjects, including a set of illustrations of the actor John Philip Kemble published in 1826 and a set of 16 portraits of his brother Charles Kemble published in 1840. The collection comprises 4 sets of lithographs bound into albums, some of which are inscribed and dated by Lane, and the remainder which are loose or in their original wrappers.
