Sir Joseph Banks was buried in an unmarked grave as specified in his will in St Leonard's Parish Church Heston in the Borough of Hounslow close to his estate at Spring Grove (now part of West Thames College). At a later date a small memorial plaque was placed in the church where it is hoped to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his death in 2020 .
