This is a copy of a portrait made by Sir Godfrey Kneller in 1716, now at Buckingham Palace. Caroline wear robes of state and rests her hand on her crown as Princess of Wales. She would become Queen in 1727 on the death of her father-in-law, George I. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
