Henry Bone's enamel portrait of Queen Charlotte is a copy of a miniature, attributed to George Place, at Stanton Harcourt, Oxford, and believed to have been given to Lord Harcourt by the Queen herself. It probably derives from a portrait by Beechey, who had been appointed Her Majesty's Portrait Painter in 1793. It was a favourite subject and many copies exist.
