Singer-songwriter Lily Allen (b.1985) was born in Hammersmith, London, to actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. Her first album, Alright Still (2006), was produced by Mark Ronson, and she has since collaborated with Kaiser Chiefs, Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, and Robbie Williams. After releasing her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You (2009), Allen won the Brit award for Best British Solo Female in 2010. Born in Israel, Nadav Kander (b.1961) lived and worked in South Africa before establishing his London studio in 1986. Photographed against a minimal backdrop, Allen is bathed in atmospheric and painterly light. Celebrated for his portraiture and landscape work, Kander was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Photographic Society in 2015.
