Born in Brooklyn in 1927, Katz is one of America's most respected and influential senior artists. Based on studies from life, this is the first time Wintour had sat for a portrait. Katz said: 'Some people you want to paint, others you don't... Painting Anna was like shooting a fish in a barrel. There was no way I could miss it. She's made to order. Highly styled'.
