Adele (b.1988) is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. This portrait, commissioned by Vogue in 2008, shows her in the year of her debut album 19, which gained her critical and commercial success. She released 25 (2015) after a three-year break, and the following year Time magazine named her one of the world’s most influential people. Julian Broad (b.1964) assisted Ken Griffiths, Norman Parkinson and Lord Snowdon before gaining commissions for Arena and The Face magazines. His portrait and fashion commissions have since appeared in many publications, including Vanity Fair, for which he is a contributing photographer.
